In this blog, we guide you through the submission process, challenges, and the next steps you need to take to becoming an ambassador. Whether you’re a seasoned guinea pig parent or new to the community (hello and welcome!), there’s a challenge here for everyone.

Earning a Guinea Pig Ambassador Badge

As a passionate member of the guinea pig community and GPM subscriber, you now have an exciting opportunity to earn a coveted Guinea Pig Ambassador Badge. Whether you’re a young enthusiast or a fully grown piggy parent, there are four distinct paths to getting your paws on one of these shiny badges. Some badges are earned through direct application (by completing one of our challenges), while others are awarded through nominations or selection by our team.

For the Younger Enthusiasts (Under 18)

1. Young Ambassador Challenge Award

If you complete one of our magazine challenges and your entry is featured as a badge winner in the magazine, this badge will be yours! It’s a testament to your creativity and love for guinea pigs.

2. Young Ambassador Journalist Award

Are you a budding writer with a passion for guinea pigs? Submit your letters, stories, or articles to us. If your work is published in the magazine and selected as a winner, you’ll be awarded with this prestigious badge.

3. Young Ambassador Recognition Award

This badge is a special recognition for those under 18 who have made a notable impact in the guinea pig community. You can earn this through nominations from individuals or organisations, or by being handpicked by our GPM team.

For the Adult Supporters (18 and older)

4. Senior Ambassador Champions Award

Who says adults can’t join the fun?! This badge is awarded to adult guinea pig lovers who have shown remarkable efforts in the community. Whether you’re nominated by someone in the community or selected by our GPM team, this badge celebrates your dedication and love for guinea pigs.

The Challenges

If you’re keen to earn your very own Guinea Pig Ambassador Badge, participating in one of our piggy challenges is the way to go. Remember, to enter these challenges, being a subscriber is essential as challenges are announced and winners are celebrated in the magazine. Let’s take a look at the fun and creative challenges we have lined up for you

#1 ENRICHMENT TOY CHALLENGE (Open to All): Let your creativity run wild and design a guinea pig enrichment toy using only recycled materials. Send us images and a step-by-step guide for making your toy. Could your invention be the next big hit for guinea pig playtime?! Check Issue 71 for all the details.

#2 THE ADOPTION CHALLENGE (Under 18s Only): Create an eye-catching poster that promotes adoption from a local rescue. Highlight the rescue’s name and details, and give three compelling reasons why adopting beats shopping. Look into Issue 72 for more on this challenge.

#3 DESIGN A MEMORIAL STONE (Under 10s Only): Honour your cherished guinea pig by crafting a unique and heartfelt memorial stone. This is your chance to create a lasting tribute that celebrates the special bond you shared. Issue 73.

#4 UNLEASH YOUR WRITING SUPERPOWERS (Open to All): Calling all writers! Share your fascinating guinea pig stories, heartfelt poems or GPM content. Whether it’s about your guinea pig’s quirky superpowers, their role as your loyal companion, or the joy and comfort they bring, we want to hear it. If your piece gets published, a badge will be yours! See Issue 74 for more details.

#5 BUILD A GUINEA PIG VILLAGE (Open to All): It’s time to let your imagination soar and construct a miniature world for your furry friends. What will your village feature? A quaint post office, a chic nail bar inspired by HayPigs!®, or perhaps historical structures like a castle, church, or mosque? The possibilities are endless! All the details are listed in Issue 75 for this challenge.

#6 ARE YOU A DEDICATED GPM FAN? (Open to All) If your collection boasts 50 or more issues of our magazine, congratulations, you’re already a Guinea Pig Ambassador in our eyes! Your dedication and accumulated knowledge make you an outstanding member of our community and we want to award you one of our shiny badges! Issue 76.
